I am an introvert.
And I’m proud to be an introvert.
That means I listen more than I talk, unless I’m pretending to be an extrovert or I know you really well. (And let’s just not talk about pretending to be an extrovert.)
That also means that being around people drains me and I have to have alone time to recharge. Recharge time isn’t dependent on the amount of time spent with people or even the number of people. It’s more dependent on the quality of time spent with people and the people themselves.
So when I’m exhausted and need to recharge I need to take care of myself.
I like to avoid phone calls. Text me, please.
I might not leave the house, especially if I have it all to myself.
I break out some delicious tea.
I take a bubble bath.
I read.
I watch a fun, no-stress movie.
I find a spot in the sun and just soak it in. (Yes, I usually remember to apply sunscreen.)
I star-gaze.
I put on my headphones and listen to some amazing music and just soak it in.
I don’t necessarily need to be alone. I can recharge with certain people around (my hubby, my sis, my writing buddy) as long as I can let my mind go where it wants to and just be.
