No one has ever accused me of having an underactive imagination. And I would have to agree. I chalk it up to all the reading I do. My imagination can be quite entertaining most of the time. It’s even created this crazy fantasy world that I’m writing about. So that’s pretty awesome. Sometimes, though, it makes me wonder. Especially when it comes to my dreams.
So the combination of vivid imagination and the audio Bible I listened to one night while I was sleeping resulted in an interesting dream. I had fallen asleep listening to Genesis. And it kept playing after I had fallen asleep.
I dreamt that my husband and I were working at a university, teaching or something. There was a colleague who came to us asking what the proper sacrifice is for a man who wants to reconcile with his wife.
Neither of us knew, so we went in search of the resident expert on appropriate sacrifices. He said that the proper sacrifice for making amends to and reconciling with one’s spouse is a cow, a sheep, and a duck.
The colleague thanked the other man and went on his way to get the animals together to go make his sacrifice in hopes to get his wife back.
I woke up shortly after I heard the mooing of a cow in my dream. I must say that I’m glad that I didn’t witness the actual sacrifice.
For a bit there I was laying there mostly still asleep trying to figure out why I was dreaming about that particular stuff, because I don’t normally. Usually, someone’s trying to kill me or I’m falling through space. Then I heard what was coming through my headphones. Having fallen asleep at the beginning of the book of Genesis, I was now in the middle of the book of Leviticus, around the part where all of the different kinds of offerings and sacrifices are spelled out.
Then that part of my dream made sense. Gotta love it when your subconscious does that kind of thing, right?
And then part of me thought about how interesting it would be if there were a Biblically mandated something that husbands would have to do to reconcile or otherwise make up with their wives. That could make things interesting.
Do you have weird dreams? I think they can be fun.
Until the next time when I might tell you about the pod people in one of my dreams.
Here’s a picture of a lovely tree I saw when last in Hawaii. Just to take your mind off the thought of animal sacrifices.
